one.

Today is the day. My baby, my tiny little boy is one year old. The last 366 days have been quite the journey for this mama (this year was a leap year, so we got an extra day of baby-hood!). Easton has given me a CRAZY amount of joy. I have nourished him from my own body every single day for a year. I've had the honor of watching him grow and learn.  I have listened to him cry, coo, babble, and talk. I have seen him at his absolute best and absolute worst. He has changed. I have changed. As he grows, our bond will change. It makes me thankful for the time we had, and hopeful for our developing "mama-toddler" relationship. But, before he becomes a toddler, I must give you a tiny recap of some fabulous things from this past year. Here are a few fabulous tidbits about my little Easton...

Easton is beautiful, happy, lighthearted, fearless, content, and coy. He wakes me up with with little bites, kisses, and high pitch squeals. He mimics my laugh. He screams with delight when he gets into the bath. He loves to put his hands in the dirt. He crawls around corners and slyly looks back to see if I'm chasing after him. He climbs stairs like a spider. He cries...with all his might at least twice during the night...and I comfort him. He thinks cardboard books are toys and he loves playing with them. He makes me laugh. I make him laugh. He loves to open and close anything that will open and close. He eats blackberries like they're chocolate. He watches me as I brush my hair and squeals. He waves at everyone that passes by (that is quite new, you know!). He falls to the floor with grace. He dances to Bob Dylan. He smiles and flirts with old men. He has seven teeth. Easton has brought so much beauty into my life.

Thank you God, for the gift of my healthy son. Thank you for giving me the role of "mama." Thank you for trusting me to take care of your little angel. This first year has been so incredible. I'm so, so blessed.

Our birth story, it felt like yesterday...
