HAPPY, Happy Friday!

"Bulgy eyes," like father, like son.

Family /Va-Kay'/

Tony, Easton, and I had a fun little va-kay in beautiful Lake Tahoe. We had a fabulous condo, where we literally sat around all day- watching movies, napping, cooking, and we got a few work outs in at the gym. Tony and Easton did a tad bit more than I did, by walking into the "village" where they went in a few shops and drank cappuccino from Starbucks. We eventually got our little behinds out of the condo, and went to see Emerald Bay- but it was so cold that we were only out of our car long enough to snap three pictures. Tony and I needed some quality time away, and we had a fabulous time. The end of the trip was a little rough, as I woke up with, what I can only imagine was a 24 hour flu. I'm still recovering.

Here are a few pics from our petit get-away

Mom to a newborn: 3 months old!!!

Yesterday, my little monster turned three months old. Wow, has time flown by. These have been amazing, exhausting, and fabulous months. I am in awe of the little life that God created, and feel so blessed that He chose me to be Easton's mama.

In the last month, Easton has begun to hit all the little milestones that baby books tell us about- which makes me proud and it also gives me peace of mind. The fear of having an unhealthy baby in any way never leaves a new mom. A thriving baby boy is all I can ask for- and I'm happy to say that Tony and I have something to do with his success. We are great parents to our little guy, if I do say so myself.

Now, dont get me wrong. There are days that go by where I'm certain that I'm doing EVERYTHING wrong. My friend Sarah, (who also has a newborn) told me that every new mom believes she is messing up the parenting thing at some point. So, the best I can do is make decisions that I believe are in the best interest of my little guy, and hope (and pray) for the best!

I have recently started journaling daily, so that I can remember the little things that Easton does- also because I want to remember how I felt during this stage in my life. I got the idea from Johnny Depp, who said that journaling everyday keeps the mind sharp. No big deal.

Here are a few tid-bits from my daily journal:

Easton has begun reaching and grabbing.
He giggles in the morning and it is so cute!
He has begun sleeping a four to five hour stretch from 10-2:30 or 3am. Then goes back down until about 5 or 6 am, (thank goodness).
He goes down for a nap around 2:30 and sleeps for about 3 hours...it gives me a much needed break.
His dimple makes me at least 15% more happy than if he didn't have one.
He has started to poop less. I'm very grateful for this, as I launder his dipes myself :)
He is getting very close to growing out of his baby gap, red, hand-me-down jams- and it literally brings tears to my eyes.
He feels thicker. Its almost like he's becoming more human and less doll-like.
Sometimes, we can just see that he is discovering something new...it's like witnessing a miracle.
He has started to kick his little legs while he's nursing.
His thighs are becoming so chunky. I love it!
He "gags" on a pacifier and a bottle. What's the male word for a diva??
When he wakes up from a nap his eyes roll all around, he brings in his chin to make..like 4 double chins, then he sees us and smiles. Big smiles.
He farts while he feeds sometimes...and while we change his diaper...and while he lays- tummy down, on our laps.

There is so much more. But these are my favourites! I love my guy.

The Curious Case of Easton Frascone

My babe is just the cutest! I adore him. What I am noticing, however, is that he looks quite different from photo to photo- day to day. One day he will look JUST like Tone, the next, he'll look just like my dad, then me...and some days he just looks like, well, an old man. So, see fo' yo' self. (To be fair, I have put the pics in chronological order, so you can see how much he has changed in the last 2 months. I didn't include any newborn pics- because if you read my blog, you have seem em'!)

Turkey Day!!

Thanksgiving was awesome! We spent the majority of the holiday weekend at my sister and brother-in-law's house in Davis. I haven't spent Thanksgiving with my sister since I was a sophomore in high school. That's a long time, yo. But we made up for all those years by eating amazing dishes and hangin' out (TV-free) for three days. My sister is a vegetarian, so most of the dishes were animal-friendly (i.e- they were nice to animals because they didn't require the killing of them), except for my brother-in-law's exceptional turkey (he happens to be from Turkey- find the irony in that please.....) and the gravy. My sister dresses a mighty pretty table, and we sat around it- stuffing our gullets and talking politics, the occupy movement, and the trials and tribulations of owning an infant son :).

My sister holding Easton so I could watch a movie hands-free!

Tony fell asleep before the turkey was even served!

We went to Old Town Sacramento on Friday afternoon- popped from shop to shop browsing gadgets and gismos and sampling loads of salt water taffy, which seemed to be everywhere we went. On Friday night, we put the baby down and had a little adult fun- smokin tobacco from the hookah! We had a wonderful time, and were reminded just how amaze-balls it is to have Heather and Erkin living so close to us!

Art

Art is one of those things that rich people have. I would love to be rich. I would love to own art. Since Tony and I have a one-income household, the "rich" thing is probably not going to happen. EVER. But, what I'm stoked about right this very minute is- I found a great site where I can buy art without breakin ma bank.

I bought this gorgeous photograph- I believe its a second edition.

Happy art buying!!!

Mom to a newborn: 2 months old!

These past two months have been pretty fabulous. Tony and I are getting to know our little guy, and adjusting to life as parents. Parenthood is absolutely a joy- I suppose it helps that our baby can't talk back or run away from us, yet. Easton is growing bigger everyday, I even packed up all of his newborn clothes today.

I have learned a few fabulous things about being a mom in these past two months...

1. Every time my babe sleeps longer than 2 hours at a time, I chalk it up as a happy "fluke." It's extremely disappointing to expect longer sleep and not get it.
2. When Easton cries uncontrolably in the car, all I have to do is put my finger in the palm of his hand and he stops. It brings tears to my eyes every time I do it.
3. Dressing rooms are fabulous places to feed my little guy.
4. Easton is the sweetest, cutest, most lovable baby in the morning. I believe that he behaves so wonderfully as an act of apology for the middle of the night screams.
5. The car seat is the only place that Easton gets sufficient sleep. So we have started to sleep him in his seat at night- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

6. The doctor said that he has "classic" colic and "classic" acid re-flux. But, he'll grow out of it.
7. The term, "I think it's a phase" instantly makes me feel better. Even if I know the "phase" will probably last a long time.
8. Easton screams "uncontrollably" from 7:30-10pm (give or take), except when other people are around- then he's the perfect baby.
9. He loves to move. He falls asleep almost instantly when I start running or walking with him in the stroller.
10. Easton "coos" when we put him on his back- he talks to us and its the cutest thing in the world!
11. If Easton is crying/screaming and it won't stop- all Tony and I have to do is sing and he almost always stops (except between the hours of 7:30-10). I attribute this to all the singing I did while he was in my belly (Tony sang to my belly quite a bit, too). He especially likes the song "Without You" by lady gaga and "Someone Like You" by Adele :)
12. He looks just like Tony and just like me, all at the same time.
13. There is nothing more amazing than seeing the man you love in the baby you love.

The final thing that I have learned in these last two months...I don't have many pics with Easton, because I'm the one that is taking all the pictures! That, we'll have to remedy...won't we.

A Family Photo Shoot: Just for fun!

A family friend hooked us up with a free photo shoot just in time for Easton's two month b-day. We plan on using some for a birth announcement- which I wanted to send out after he hit two months, so his face was a little chubbier and had more defined features! Here are some of our favorite shots from the shoot. Enjoy!
